BBQ

BBQ facilities are available for guests staying 2 nights or more. There is a lovely, intimate garden space right beside the Guest House.

Gabriola Guest House is located in one of the few spots on the island where cell phone signals are strong enough to use most of the time.

For your convenience, we have installed a good wireless router so that our guests can easily access the Internet while staying in the Guest House.

We offer the use of our laundry facilities to guests who stay three nights or more. Alternatively, there is a laundromat at a marina a short drive away.

The Guest House includes the use of soft organic cotton linens and quality towels. Should you need extra, please ask and we will be happy to accommodate. If you forgot your beach towel, we'd prefer you ask to borrow one of ours rather than use a fine one from the Guest House.

And then there is our dog Kasie. Yes she has 3 legs, and yes she is very friendly. But no one knows how she lost her leg. We got her as a rescue dog when she was about ten months old. Kasie is a very happy 10 year old girl now.

Private guest parking is available (for one or two cars) right next to the Guest House.

We're located off the main road, so you will only hear the odd local car coming or going (we're not on a through road). More likely, you'll hear a breeze rustle the tree canopy high above; or frogs, crickets and birds doing their thing as you relax with a good book. At night it's especially quiet and very dark - perfect for stargazing.

We don’t allow smoking inside the Guest House, but you are welcome to enjoy a puff outside on the balcony, or on your private patio. Please always use an ashtray to help prevent forest fires (and to keep our place clean and beautiful).

There is a 20 inch flat screen TV in the bedroom. We have several DVD's that you are welcome to borrow (and there are also a few DVD rental stores on the island). Sorry, there is no cable in the Guest House.

Gabriola has a variety of wildlife. If you are lucky, you may spot an occasional Orca pod off our shores. But you are more likely to see otters, sea lions, seals and even porpoises. It is common to see eagles, owls, loons, hummingbirds and of course ravens. Deer are plentiful here (be extra careful driving from dusk to dawn). As far as everyone knows, bears and cougars do not live on Gabriola (although there was a reported cougar sighting sometime ago, but not recently).
